Beginning in the mid-1980s, founders Dwight and Kerstin Boyd successfully operated Clarion Boats in Campbellford, east of Peterborough, where they restored a wide variety of wooden boats from Dippys to Ditchburns. By the 1990s, Dwight had expanded his efforts to include the building of new wooden boats. Gradually, Dwight built a roster of satisfied clientele across North America.
