The Shipyards: Muskoka Marketplace.

The clients were using a logo that evoked a colourful circus atmosphere, but lacked legibility and didn't communicate the up-market quality of their stylish antique shop. We refined the image to retain the animated sense of fun that the owners wanted to convey, but also to capture the sophistication of their business and target clientele. We restricted the colours to shades of black, white, and gold; made the circus stripes more subtle; and used a typeface that reflected the gypsy theme and tone.

When the Town of Gravenhurst launched a Downtown Revitalization initiative, they needed an identity that would instill a sense of pride in the community, partnering respect for the small town's heritage attributes with faith in the economic growth that the project was designed to promote. This identity's theme silhouettes the downtown main street, with its iconic Opera House tower. An intriguing perspective and angle add visual interest, while an organically shaped background control element adds strength and versatility to the brand. The double-entendre slogan suggests the anticipated success of the program on a variety of levels: business, social, and even horticultural.

Launched in 2008, Gateway on the Bay is a residential subdivision development located on the southern shores of Lake Muskoka. Trees, rocks, and water make up Muskoka's iconic profile; and this logo captures all three elements in a unique composition. The sailboat suggests leisure and freedom, while the white pine tree bending towards the water lends an air of comfort to the imagery. The border control element is made unique by using it as a contoured rockscape in the foreground, providing the identity with a greater sense of depth and relevance.

There are few businesses with whom we have worked that embody the entrepreneurial spirit as aptly as Coulson Bros. Scow Service. Coulson Bros. is a 3rd-generation family business with a reputation throughout the Muskoka lakes for quality of service, efficiency, and fairness. With the largest operating capacity on Muskoka's lakes, the Coulsons have delivered everything from household goods and building materials to hauling massive machinery for major build projects on water-access properties.
Although reasonably representative of their service offering, their previous logo did not reflect the industry-leading quality or market position of the Coulson brand. Embodied by a vector representation of one of the Coulson fleet's hallmark tug boats silhouetted against an island property, this identifier works to communicate their strong tradition of service while reinforcing their brand image as put forth by their fleet.

Developed for an experimental crowd-sourcing platform, this brand hits home the group nature of social media in creating one global conversation. The exploding multi-coloured speech bubbles suggest the flowering and growth that result from successful crowd sourcing. This brand identifier creates an adventurous sense of possibilities and collaborative growth.

A multi-generation company, Fitzmaurice Bros. Carpentry has a locally renowned reputation for constructing high quality, custom Muskoka cottages and boathouses. The previous Fitzmaurice Bros. logo in no way represented their quality of workmanship and strong market position.Wishing to keep a boathouse image as their primary graphic element, we set forth to create a boathouse that is representative of both the company's skill set and the local Muskoka region. This final boathouse image is a 100% hand-created vector image, with every bit as much attention to detail as the Fitzmaurice team themselves would put into one of their projects. The subdued background trees act as a control element in ensuring the versatility of this logo identifier across a variety of media applications and layout positions.
